The Colts are adding a veteran weapon for Daniel Jones, signing 6x Pro Bowl receiver Keenan Allen to a 1-year deal worth up to $8.32M, per Jordan Schultz.
Schultz reported that the opportunity to reunite with Colts head coach Shane Steichen played a major role in Allen choosing Indianapolis, as Steichen previously worked with Allen as the Chargers offensive coordinator.
Indianapolis had spent the offseason looking for additional help at receiver following the trade of Michael Pittman Jr. to the Steelers and Alec Pierce dealing with an ankle injury.
Allen will return for his 14th NFL season after spending 2025 back with the Chargers, and even at the ripe age of 34, he led the team with 81 receptions, topping the year off with 777 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns.
Allen appeared in all 17 regular-season games and played just over half of the Chargers offensive snaps.
A return to Los Angeles for another season had recently appeared unlikely. Allen remained a free agent deep into training camp after the Chargers were reportedly not expected to add another receiver before the season.
Indianapolis now has Allen, Pierce and Downs as its top receiving options for Daniel “Indiana” Jones.
