Packers Sign TE Jonnu Smith

The Packers are adding another veteran weapon to their offense, signing tight end Jonnu Smith to a 1-year deal, according to Jordan Schultz.

Smith joins Green Bay after spending the 2025 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He appeared in all 17 games during his lone season in Pittsburgh, recording 38 receptions for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Steelers acquired Smith from the Miami Dolphins in June 2025 as part of the blockbuster trade that also sent Jalen Ramsey and a 2027 7th-round pick to Pittsburgh. Miami received Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 5th-round pick in the deal.

Smith also signed a 1-year, $12M extension with Pittsburgh after the trade. The move came after a career-best 2024 season with Miami, but his production declined during his only year with the Steelers.

Originally selected in the 3rd round of the 2017 Draft, Smith began his career with the Titans. He later spent time with the Patriots, Falcons, Dolphins and Steelers before now joining the Packers.

The former Pro Bowler has recorded 345 receptions and 30 receiving touchdowns over his 9-year NFL career.

Green Bay now becomes the sixth stop of Smith’s career as the Packers add an experienced option to their tight end room ahead of the 2026 regular season.
