49ers DE Nick Bosa Expected to Miss Multiple Weeks With Calf Injury
Nick Bosa is dealing with another injury after playing just 3 games last season due to a torn ACL.
The 49ers defensive line has taken another major hit, with Nick Bosa expected to miss multiple weeks after suffering a calf injury during Thursday’s practice.
Bosa pulled his calf during practice and will not play Sunday against the Cardinals, according to Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport. San Francisco is still deciding whether to place the 5-time Pro Bowler on injured reserve.
If Bosa is placed on IR, he would be required to miss at least 4 games.
This newest injury comes as Bosa works his way back from a torn ACL that limited him to only 3 games in 2025. He did not participate in his first full practice following the ACL injury until Sept. 2, just over a week before San Francisco opened its season against the Rams.
Bosa returned to play 36 defensive snaps in Week 1 before seeing his workload increase to 40 snaps against the Dolphins in Week 2. Through his first 2 games back, he recorded 7 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 1 QB hit.
Bosa is now the latest addition to an already lengthy list of injuries along the 49ers defensive line.
Alfred Collins is out for the season with a torn patellar tendon, while Sam Okuayinonu is dealing with a broken foot. James Thompson Jr. suffered a high ankle sprain that is expected to keep him out for multiple weeks, Romello Height broke his hand, and C.J. West was placed on IR with a knee injury.
The 49ers could receive some help soon, with Mykel Williams expected to return to practice next week as he continues working his way back from his own torn ACL. Williams is currently on the PUP list and cannot return to game action until at least Week 5.
For now, San Francisco will have to move forward without Bosa as the team determines whether his calf injury will require an IR stint or if he can return within the next few weeks.
