Giants Acquire QB J.J. McCarthy From Vikings

The Giants have added another young quarterback to their roster after Jaxson Dart suffered a season-ending injury.

New York acquired QB J.J. McCarthy from Minnesota in exchange for a 2027 5th-round pick, according to Tom Pelissero.

The move comes just one week after Dart’s season ended after damage to his MCL, PCL, and meniscus. The Giants have since been exploring their options at quarterback, and now make a move for McCarthy.

McCarthy also gets a fresh start after his time in Minnesota. The Vikings selected the former Michigan QB with the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

HC John Harbaugh said following Sunday’s win over the Tennessee Titans that Jameis Winston remains QB1 even if New York adds another quarterback. If Winston starts playing poorly, we could see a switch.

McCarthy now joins a Giants team sitting at 2-1 through the first 3 games of the season and is not ready to throw in the towel.
