Calvin Austin III Suffers Torn ACL

Giants receiver Calvin Austin III will miss the entire 2026 season after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee during Tuesday’s practice, according to multiple reports.

Austin suffered the non-contact injury during a 1-on-1 drill while running a route against cornerback Deonte Banks. He immediately went to the ground and grabbed his right knee, bringing practice to a stop.

Fellow Giants players gathered around him before he was carted off, with Giants owner John Mara also coming over to console him.

The initial fear was that Austin had suffered a serious knee injury, and testing has now confirmed the season-ending torn ACL.

It’s a brutal blow for both Austin and the Giants after the 27-year-old signed a 1-year deal with New York this offseason. He was expected to have a significant role in the offense and was working as the team’s primary slot receiver.

Austin spent his first four NFL seasons with the Steelers before joining New York. He recorded 31 receptions for 372 yards and three touchdowns last season.

His absence could now change the Giants’ plans at wide receiver ahead of final roster cuts. Braxton Berrios stepped into the starting slot role following Austin’s injury, while Odell Beckham Jr. could have an increased chance of making the 53-man roster.

Beckham has primarily worked with the second-team offense but had one of his strongest practices of camp Tuesday, recording four catches during competitive periods.

Austin’s season ends before he gets the opportunity to play a regular-season game.
