Dolphins RB De’Von Achane to Miss Season With Torn ACL

Miami Dolphins star RB De’Von Achane’s 2026 season ended abruptly after just 3 games, after the 24-year-old suffered a torn ACL during Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs and will miss the remainder of the season, according to Adam Schefter.

Achane suffered the injury during the 1st quarter on his 3rd rushing attempt of the game. He gained 11 yards before Chiefs S Alohi Gilman tackled him awkwardly.

Achane walked off the field under his own power before entering the medical tent. He was eventually taken to the locker room for further testing and was later seen on the sideline.

Following the game, Dolphins HC Jeff Hafley admitted it did not look encouraging.

“To be very honest with you, it does not sound very optimistic at this moment,” Hafley said. “But I can’t give you any other details until I have them.”

This was confirmed on Monday when testing confirmed the torn ACL, ending Achane’s 4th season after just 3 games.

It is a massive loss for a Dolphins offense that has relied heavily on Achane over the past several seasons. He came off his best year in 2025, recording 1,838 scrimmage yards and 12 total TDs while earning his first Pro Bowl selection.

Achane entered 2026 after signing a 4-year, $64M extension with Miami during the offseason. Through 3 games this season, he recorded 127 rushing yards on 34 carries.

With Achane’s season over, the Dolphins will have to turn elsewhere in their backfield. Jaylen Wright missed Sunday’s game with a stinger, leaving Ollie Gordon II as Miami’s only other active running back. Gordon finished the loss to Kansas City with 41 rushing yards and a TD on 17 carries.
