Alvin Kamara Expected to Miss Time
The Saints will be without another key offensive player to begin the season.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara is expected to miss at least the next month after suffering a sprained MCL during Tuesday’s joint practice with the Cowboys, according to Adam Schefter.
Saints reporter Nick Underhill initially reported that Kamara appeared to have avoided a major injury, but the running back will still be sidelined for several weeks.
The injury is especially notable, as Kamara dealt with an MCL sprain that kept him out for the final 6 games last season.
Kamara finished the year with 471 rushing yards and 657 total yards from scrimmage across 11 starts.
New Orleans added Travis Etienne Jr. during free agency, who will receive a workload increase while Kamara recovers.
The Saints are also dealing with a significant injury at receiver, as No. 8 overall pick Jordyn Tyson is expected to miss around two months after suffering a hamstring injury during practice last week.
With Kamara now expected to miss at least a month and Tyson facing an even longer absence, New Orleans could open the season without two of its biggest offensive weapons.
