Commanders LB Leo Chenal to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

Commanders LB Leo Chenal will undergo season-ending surgery after suffering a fracture in his neck during Sunday’s 33-31 win over the Seahawks, according to Jordan Schultz.

Chenal has feeling in all of his extremities and is expected to make a full recovery. The injury occurred during the 2nd quarter when Chenal went down while attempting to tackle Seahawks RB Emanuel Wilson.

Chenal was eventually carted off the field before being transported to a hospital as a precaution. Further testing revealed the neck fracture, which will now require surgery and end his 2026 season.

Chenal appeared in all 3 games for Washington this season, recording 9 tackles. He was starting Sunday in place of LB Frankie Luvu, who missed his 2nd consecutive game with a groin injury.

Chenal joined Washington this offseason on a 3-year, $24.75M contract after spending his first 4 seasons with the Chiefs.
