Falcons Release Former 2nd-Round Pick Troy Andersen

The Atlanta Falcons have released linebacker Troy Andersen, ending the former second-round pick’s tenure with the team.

Selected No. 58 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Montana State, Andersen entered the league as a unique prospect after playing quarterback, running back, and linebacker in college. He appeared in every game as a rookie.

Across 26 career games with the Falcons, he recorded 135 tackles, five tackles for loss, a half-sack, one forced fumble, and a pick-six.

Unfortunately, injuries prevented Andersen from building on that success. A shoulder and pectoral injury limited him to just two games in 2023, while a knee injury in 2024 eventually led to him missing the entire 2025 season. Andersen opened the 2026 campaign on the active/PUP list and never returned to the field before Friday’s release.

In a corresponding move, the Falcons signed veteran wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson to fill the open roster spot.
