Eagles Reunite With Veteran TE Zach Ertz Following Injuries

Zach Ertz is expected to be promoted from the practice squad in time to play Monday night against the Bears.

Philadelphia is bringing back a familiar face as Zach Ertz returns to the team where he spent the first 9 seasons of his NFL career.

Ertz is signing with the Eagles practice squad, per Tom Pelissero, but is expected to be promoted and play Monday night against the Bears.

The 3-time Pro Bowler spent his first 9 seasons in Philadelphia from 2013-2021 after the Eagles selected him with the 35th overall pick in the 2nd round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Ertz also helped Philadelphia win its first Super Bowl during his first stint with the team.

After leaving Philadelphia, Ertz had stops with the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Commanders. Now, he’s heading back to where his NFL career began.

The reunion comes as the Eagles deal with injuries at TE. Dallas Goedert is expected to miss a few weeks after suffering a sprained MCL in Week 2, while 2nd-round rookie Eli Stowers is currently on IR.
