Cowboys Trading for Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr.
The Steelers move on from Joey Porter Jr. following weeks of uncertainty surrounding his future in Pittsburgh.
The Dallas Cowboys are finalizing a trade to acquire CB Joey Porter Jr. from the Pittsburgh Steelers, per Tom Pelissero.
TRADE SUMMARY:
🔶 Cowboys Receive: Joey Porter Jr.
🔶 Steelers Receive: 2nd-round, conditional 6th round
Porter has missed the last 3 weeks while dealing with a back injury. His back issue flared up again this week after he practiced in a limited capacity, and Pittsburgh ruled him out for Thursday night against Cleveland.
Porter is entering the final year of his 4-year, $9.6M rookie contract.
Trade speculation increased over the last several days as teams continued contacting Pittsburgh about Porter. ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported that interested teams had not previously been willing to offer enough in a trade while also taking on the responsibility of giving Porter the contract he is seeking.
Pittsburgh had not publicly indicated that it was willing to move Porter, but that has now changed with Dallas finalizing a deal for the former 2nd-round pick.
