49ers QB Kurtis Rourke Released From Hospital
Kurtis Rourke suffers rib injury and needed to be hospitalized.
The 49ers received encouraging news on quarterback Kurtis Rourke after a scary ending to his NFL debut Thursday night.
The team announced Friday morning that Rourke was released from the hospital after undergoing further evaluation for a rib injury suffered against the Titans.
Rourke was having difficulty breathing after suffering the injury, which led the 49ers to send him to the hospital after X-rays taken at the stadium were inconclusive.
The injury cut short what had been a nice debut for the quarterback, completing 12 of 14 passes for 101 yards.
The 2025 7th-round pick spent his entire rookie season on the non-football injury list while recovering from a torn ACL suffered during his final season at Indiana.
After waiting 601 days to return, Rourke finally got his opportunity and did make the most out of it before suffering this rib injury.
While the 49ers have not yet provided a timeline for Rourke’s return to the field, his release from the hospital is a good sign. Wishing him the best.
