Oregon QB Dante Moore’s Season Is Over Following Concussion

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore is not expected to return for the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering a concussion against USC on September 26, head coach Dan Lanning announced Monday.

“I’m not anticipating him being back this season,” Lanning said during his Monday press conference.

Moore suffered the concussion against USC after taking a late hit from linebacker Desman Stephens II while attempting to slide. He remained on the field before an ambulance took him to Los Angeles General Medical Center for further evaluation.

Moore finishes his 2026 season with 926 passing yards, 9 touchdowns and 0 interceptions across four appearances. He completed 69 of 99 passes, recording a 69.7% completion rate.

It’s been a rough start for the Ducks offense without Moore, now going 1-2 in their last three games without him and scoring fewer than 20 points in each game.

Oregon’s struggles also led to the firing of offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer following Saturday’s 21-10 loss to Illinois.

What’s Next for Dante Moore?

With his season officially over, Moore faces another major decision about his football future.

After throwing for 3,565 yards and 30 touchdowns in 2025, Moore did not declare for the NFL draft, continuing his collegiate career entering 2026 and being viewed as a potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 draft.

However, the concussion limited him to just four appearances this season, leaving NFL evaluators with less film.

Moore remains a potential 1st-round pick in the 2027 draft, with ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. currently ranking him as the No. 25 overall prospect in the upcoming class.

A return to college could give Moore another chance to prove himself, as he has 1 year of eligibility left.

Lanning said the two have not discussed Moore’s future plans.

“That’s not fair for me to say or speculate,” Lanning said. “He’ll have a decision at the end of the season about what that looks like.”

For now, Moore’s 2026 campaign is over, and he will have to decide whether to enter the NFL Draft or return to college for another season.
