Cardinals to Retire Larry Fitzgerald’s No. 11

The Arizona Cardinals are making sure No. 11 belongs to Larry Fitzgerald forever.

The franchise announced Monday that Fitzgerald’s ICONIC No. 11 will officially be retired during Arizona’s Week 7 matchup against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 25 at State Farm Stadium.

Fitzgerald will also be inducted into the Cardinals Ring of Honor during the halftime ceremony.

Fitzgerald spent his entire 17-year NFL career with Arizona after the Cardinals selected him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.

He finished his career with:

• 1,432 receptions
• 17,492 receiving yards
• 121 receiving TDs
• 263 games with the Cardinals
• 11 Pro Bowl selections

Fitzgerald ranks 2nd in NFL history in both receptions and receiving yards, trailing only Jerry Rice in each category. His 121 receiving TDs also rank 6th all time.

He also holds the Cardinals franchise record with 263 games played and finished his career with a reception in 256 consecutive games, the second-longest streak in NFL history.

No. 11 Becomes the 6th Number Retired by Arizona

Fitzgerald will become just the 6th player in Cardinals history to have his number retired.

His No. 11 joins Larry Wilson’s No. 8, Pat Tillman’s No. 40, Stan Mauldin’s No. 77, J.V. Cain’s No. 88 and Marshall Goldberg’s No. 99.

Fitzgerald became the face of the Cardinals during his career and helped lead Arizona to its first Super Bowl appearance following the 2008 season.

No. 11 is officially Larry Fitzgerald’s forever.
