Giants WR Calvin Austin III Carted Off
Calvin Austin suffered an apparent right knee injury was carted off the field on Tuesday.
Giants receiver Calvin Austin III suffered an apparent right knee injury during Tuesday’s practice and was carted off the field after going down during 1-on-1 drills.
According to multiple reporters at practice, Austin went down while running a route against cornerback Deonte Banks and immediately grabbed his right knee.
The reaction around Austin added to the concern. Giants players gathered around him while trainers attended to the injury, with Connor Hughes reporting that nearly the entire team surrounded Austin before he was carted off. Giants owner John Mara also came over as well.
Austin joined New York this offseason after signing a 1-year, $1.5M contract in March that can reportedly reach $4.5M with incentives.
Braxton Berrios replaced Austin following the injury, according to Hughes, who noted that Berrios has had a strong training camp. The injury could also impact the Giants decisions at receiver ahead of roster cuts.
For now, the Giants will await further testing to determine the severity of Austin’s knee injury.
