Dae’Quan Wright, Zxavian Harris Expect to Join LSU Roster

Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris expect to officially join LSU’s roster Friday after a Louisiana judge granted an injunction allowing the former NFL players to return to college football.

Wright told On3 that he will “most definitely” play Saturday night when LSU opens its season against No. 11 Clemson.

Harris also expects to be added to the roster, but he will not play immediately because of an ongoing foot injury. Expect Harris to return around LSU’s matchup against Ole Miss on September 19, a massive rematch between Lane Kiffin and his former school.

A preliminary injunction was granted Thursday, preventing the SEC and NCAA from enforcing rules that would keep Wright and Harris from playing for LSU. But the legal battle isn’t quite over.

According to Dan Murphy of ESPN, SEC lawyers said Thursday night that the conference plans to appeal the injunction asap.

Time is of the essence, as Friday is the deadline for LSU to finalize its roster ahead of Saturday’s season opener against Clemson. As it appears, LSU intends to include Wright and Harris on that roster.

Wright spent two seasons at Virginia Tech before transferring to Ole Miss, where he recorded 66 receptions for 1,029 yards and 9 TDs for the Rebels.

Wright signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent before being claimed by the Browns. He appeared during the preseason before Cleveland ultimately waived him.

Harris also previously played at Ole Miss before spending time with the Saints. He was waived by New Orleans before committing to LSU for the 2026 season.

The SEC recently implemented rules prohibiting teams from adding players to their rosters who previously signed NFL contracts or appeared on those rosters.

On top of that, the SEC filed a separate federal lawsuit in Alabama against LSU and Kiffin over the school’s efforts to recruit NFL players back to college football rosters Thursday morning.

In its complaint, the SEC alleged that “Defendants waged a deliberate and coordinated campaign to recruit professional athletes to play football for LSU during the 2026-27 season.”

Wright could immediately become part of that story Saturday night against Clemson, while Harris is expected to make his LSU debut later in the season once healthy.

It’s absolutely insane that I’m typing about NFL players returning to college football while I’m currently watching Week 1 games take place, and it appears this isn’t over just yet.
