Myles Garrett Headed to Injured Reserve

The Rams will be without star pass rusher Myles Garrett for at least the next 4 games.

Garrett will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his ailing knee and is headed to injured reserve, according to Tom Pelissero. The hope is that Garrett will be able to return in 4 weeks.

Garrett has been dealing with lower-leg pain, which could explain why he didn’t look like himself in his Rams debut.

The knee issue is not new for Garrett, who missed significant time throughout training camp while dealing with discomfort and swelling.

Garrett missed multiple practices early in August due to what Rams HC Sean McVay initially described as soreness in his lower half. Later in camp, McVay revealed Garrett was dealing with swelling in his knee and said the team was being cautious with its star pass rusher.

Garrett ultimately missed much of training camp before returning ahead of the Rams season opener against the 49ers.

Despite being cleared to play, Garrett did not look like himself in his Rams debut.

The reigning DPOY finished the 27-7 loss without a tackle, sack, or QB hit. It marked just the 4th game of his NFL career in which Garrett finished with 0 tackles and 0 QB hits.

Following the game, Garrett told reporters that his knee was affecting him and called the performance the “worst version of myself that I’ve put out there.”

Garrett also said his focus moving forward was getting healthy. The Rams will now give him that opportunity by placing him on injured reserve and having him undergo arthroscopic surgery.

If everything goes according to plan, Garrett could be back after the minimum 4-game absence.
