Vanderbilt Names Jared Curtis Starting Quarterback

Vanderbilt is handing the offense over to 5-star true freshman quarterback Jared Curtis.

Head coach Clark Lea announced Tuesday that Curtis will make his first career start against NC State on Saturday.

Curtis entered the season behind senior Blaze Berlowitz, who won the starting job. Berlowitz started Vanderbilt’s first two games, but Curtis continued to get opportunities each game.

Against Delaware, Curtis entered after Vanderbilt’s second offensive series and played the majority of the game. The freshman completed 14 of 22 passes for 210 yards and his first career passing touchdown while also adding two touchdowns on the ground.

Vanderbilt has started the season 2-0 with wins over Austin Peay and Delaware, but the offense will now run under Curtis as the Commodores prepare for NC State.
