Bears QB Caleb Williams Avoids Major Hamstring Injury, Now Considered Week to Week

Bears QB Caleb Williams avoided a major hamstring injury after being carted off during Sunday’s 9-3 loss to the Vikings.

Tom Pelissero reported Monday that testing confirmed Williams avoided a major injury and that the Bears have not completely ruled him out for Week 3 against the Eagles.

However, Bears HC Ben Johnson provided a more cautious update following Williams’ MRI, saying the quarterback is “week-to-week” and “will likely miss some time.”

Williams suffered the injury while scrambling during the fourth quarter against Minnesota. He went down in visible pain before being evaluated and eventually carted to the locker room. The Bears later ruled him out with a hamstring injury.

While the initial scene raised concerns about a potentially significant injury, Monday’s testing brought much better news for Chicago. Williams’ Week 3 status remains uncertain, but the Bears avoided a long-term injury to their starting quarterback.

If Williams is unable to play against Philadelphia, Tyson Bagent would be in line to take over at quarterback.
