Bears Sign Veteran WR Ray-Ray McCloud III

The Chicago Bears are adding another veteran to their receiver room, signing WR Ray-Ray McCloud III following the injury to Luther Burden III.

Burden suffered a groin injury during practice Saturday and is expected to miss around a month. The hope is that the second-year receiver will recover in time to play in Chicago’s Week 1 matchup against the Panthers.

With Burden sidelined for the remainder of training camp, the Bears moved to add some extra depth.

McCloud worked out with the Lions on Sunday but left without a deal. One day later, he is officially joining their NFC North rival in Chicago.

The Bears also waived WR Kyron Hudson with an injury designation to open a spot on the 90-man roster.

McCloud Finds a New Home

McCloud, 30, played just 6 games last season between the Falcons and Giants. He recorded 6 catches for 64 yards across four games with Atlanta before later joining New York, where he appeared in two games and caught one pass for five yards.

The veteran has bounced around the NFL throughout his career, previously spending time with the Bills, Panthers, Steelers, 49ers, Falcons and Giants.
