Commanders Release K Jake Moody

The Commanders have released kicker Jake Moody following a difficult training camp and kicking competition.

Moody’s release comes after he struggled with consistency throughout recent practices, including a stretch in which he missed 11 field goals over four practices.

During one kicking period last week, Moody went just 2-for-6, missing four consecutive attempts from 44, 49, 51 and 55 yards.

The former 3rd-round pick did get an opportunity during the Commanders preseason action.

Moody made his lone field goal attempt from 29 yards, but even that kick drilled the right upright before bouncing through.

The Commanders have now decided to move forward without Moody.

He will now become a free agent and look for another opportunity ahead of Week 1.
