Drake Maye Shoulder Injury Update

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye revealed that he does not need offseason shoulder surgery after dealing with a right shoulder injury during the Super Bowl.

Maye confirmed the injury required a painkilling injection before the game, but said the issue is expected to heal naturally with rest rather than surgery. He participated fully in practice leading up to the Super Bowl and was not listed on the final injury report, though the discomfort was clearly significant enough to require treatment on game day.

Despite playing through the shoulder issue, Maye finished the Super Bowl, completing 27 of 43 passes for 295 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, while also leading New England in rushing yards. How much the injury affected his performance remains unclear, but the quarterback showed toughness by staying on the field and competing through it.

With surgery now off the table, Maye is expected to focus on rest and recovery this offseason as he prepares for next year.
