Giants hire Matt Nagy

Start spreadin’ the news because Matt Nagy is leavin’ today to be a part of New York.

The former Chiefs offensive coordinator has joined the Giants after a tough month of interviews that didn’t result in any formal offers. Nagy’s contract in Kansas City ended, and he wanted to pursue head coaching jobs again after his four years in Chicago.

While he was reportedly a finalist for the Titans’ head coaching gig, nothing materialized. He went on interview after interview for the offensive coordinator position, but nothing came of those either. With the Chiefs bringing in Eric Bieniemy for the offensive coordinator gig, there was no backtracking to KC for Nagy to do.

Several days ago, we mentioned that, well, if nothing comes soon, Nagy might have to take a year off, but the Giants must’ve seen our post (they don’t know our outlet exists) and said hold my beer, we have a gig for you.

Now, Nagy is heading to New York with what’s probably the biggest question mark on head coach John Harbaugh’s staff. While Nagy wasn’t the playcaller for the Chiefs, this will give him the opportunity to do so and have the chance to prove, hey, look, I belong as a head coach. Ignore what happened in Chicago; it was a fluke.

With the hiring of Matt Nagy, the Giants have completed their main big three candidates: HC John Harbaugh, OC Matt Nagy, and DC Dennard Wilson.
