Giants Sign Jameis Winston to 2-Year, $13M Extension

The Giants are keeping Jameis Winston around for the foreseeable future.

New York has agreed to a 2-year, $13M extension with Winston, keeping the veteran quarterback under contract through the 2028 season, per multiple reports.

Winston, 32, was entering the final year of his current deal and would become a free agent following this season.

Instead, the former No. 1 overall pick will remain in New York as the clear backup to Jaxson Dart.

Winston joined the Giants ahead of the 2025 season on a 2-year, $8M deal. He appeared in 3 games last season and made 2 starts while Dart was injured, completing 37 of 66 passes for 567 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs.

Jordan Schultz reported that Winston has become an important part of Dart’s development. Dart praised Winston last season for the impact he has made both on and off the field.

“He’s like a coach on the field, in the film room when we spend extra time,” Dart said. “He’s quizzing me constantly. He’s teaching me things that he’s gone through in his past.”
