UNC Football GM Michael Lombardi Resigns

UNC football GM Michael Lombardi has resigned from his position after spending the last 5 weeks on paid administrative leave.

Pete Thamel first reported Thursday that Lombardi had resigned in the wake of an internal investigation.

UNC later confirmed the move in an official statement.

“Effective September 3, 2026, Michael Lombardi has resigned from his position as General Manager of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s football program.”

“The University will continue its ongoing investigation and will consider all appropriate corrective actions responsive to the information it learns.”

Lombardi was originally placed on paid administrative leave in late July.
