A.J. Brown Suffers High Ankle Sprain in Patriots Debut

Patriots WR A.J. Brown suffered a high ankle sprain during Wednesday night’s 13-10 loss to the Seahawks, with X-rays coming back negative for a fracture, per Mike Garafolo.

Brown is undergoing an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of the sprain and get a better idea of how much time he could miss.

The injury happened during the 3rd quarter while Brown was attempting to catch a pass from Drake Maye. He was able to walk off the field under his own power before being evaluated in the medical tent and eventually heading to the locker room.

Post-game, Brown was seen leaving the Patriots locker room in a walking boot on his right foot.

The receiver finished his Patriots debut with 3 receptions for 26 yards.

Mike Vrabel did not have any additional information immediately following the game.

“I don’t have any update yet. Wasn’t able to return, obviously,” Vrabel told reporters.

Brown is expected to miss several weeks. His exact timeline will depend on the results of Thursday’s MRI.

If Brown is forced to miss extended time, New England will turn to Romeo Doubs, Mack Hollins, Pop Douglas, Kyle Williams and Efton Chism at receiver.

The negative X-rays are good news for Brown and the Patriots, but now all eyes will be on the MRI to determine just how much time their new star receiver could miss.
