Cardinals rookie RB Jeremiyah Love is listed as RB2 on Arizona’s unofficial Week 1 depth chart, with Tyler Allgeier currently holding the starting spot.
The designation comes as Love continues working his way back from the high ankle sprain he suffered during his preseason debut against the Raiders.
Love initially appeared to avoid a significant injury, with HC Mike LaFleur saying after the game that Love “could have returned if we needed him to, so he’s fine.”
However, his ankle grew more sore in the following days, and further testing revealed a high ankle sprain that kept him out for the rest of the preseason.
Love finished his NFL debut with 11 carries for 58 yards while adding 3 receptions for 15 yards.
The Cardinals are hopeful Love can return for their Week 1 matchup against the Chargers.
Arizona selected Love with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 draft, making him the earliest running back selected since Saquon Barkley went No. 2 overall in 2018. Love signed a fully guaranteed 4-year rookie contract worth more than $53M
For now, Allgeier sits atop the Cardinals backfield entering Week 1, while Love is listed directly behind him as he works toward his regular-season debut.
