Trevon Diggs Released by Packers

The Packers have released cornerback Trevon Diggs after briefly claiming him off waivers in December, officially making him a free agent.

Green Bay’s move was largely procedural. Diggs played just one snap in the Wild Card game against the Bears before the team moved on in January. The Packers claimed Diggs at minimal cost, paying his $472,000 base salary along with a $58,823 bonus tied to being active in Week 18 of the 2025 season. They inherited the remainder of his large but unguaranteed Cowboys contract, then released him with no dead cap, effectively treating Diggs as a short-term playoff rental.

By releasing Diggs, Green Bay frees up $15.5M in 2026 cap space. Dallas, meanwhile, will carry a $5.8M dead cap charge after waiving Diggs back in December.

Now 27, Diggs enters free agency after earning $42.5M of his nearly $100M contract extension. However, injuries limited him to just 19 appearances over the life of that deal, as multiple setbacks derailed what once looked like a long-term future in Dallas.

Diggs will now look to find a new opportunity heading into the 2026 season.
