Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love appears to have avoided a significant injury after hurting his ankle during Thursday night’s 27-14 preseason win over the Raiders.
Head coach Mike LaFleur delivered an encouraging postgame update: “He could have returned if we needed him to, so he’s fine.” Since it’s preseason, zero reason to risk further injury. Makes sense.
LaFleur added that he believes Love could practice this week, but Arizona will spend the next couple of days evaluating how his ankle heals.
After sitting out Arizona’s Hall of Fame Game against Carolina, Love saw 14 touches against the Raiders, making a stellar debut for the 3rd overall pick.
Love finished with:
🔶 11 carries
🔶 58 rushing yards
🔶 5.3 yards per carry
🔶 3 receptions
🔶 15 receiving yards
Love became the earliest running back selected in a draft since Saquon Barkley went No. 2 overall in 2018.
