Jaguars crush woeful Colts in dominant display
Jacksonville dominated Indianapolis with a major 35-point victory.
Back at EverBank Stadium after a spell abroad, the Jacksonville Jaguars had a chance to strengthen its AFC South position. On the other hand, the Indianapolis Colts arrived amid a difficult period, having lost three straight and navigating a major roster shake-up after trading defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and guard Quenton Nelson. The hosts made their intentions clear from the opening possession.
Jacksonville wasted little time asserting its authority, taking the opening kickoff and marching 98 yards downfield on an impressive opening possession. Trevor Lawrence connected with Brian Thomas Jr. in the back of the end zone to cap the drive, giving the Jaguars an early 7-0 advantage. Indianapolis struggled to respond against a Jacksonville defense determined to make life difficult for Daniel Jones.
The Jaguars continued to dictate the tempo as Lawrence found rookie tight end Nate Boerkircher for a 31-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 14 points. The Colts also struggled to contain the rushing attack, with potential trade candidate Jonathan Taylor finding little room to operate against a disciplined defensive front.

Jacksonville’s momentum continued when Bhayshul Tuten broke loose for a massive 39-yard touchdown run, breaking multiple tackles on his way to the end zone.
Indianapolis briefly threatened to respond after Jaylahn Tuimoloau forced a Lawrence fumble, which was recovered by Caden Curry. However, the visitors’ brief moment of positivity quickly vanished when Jones’ pass slipped through the hands of tight end Tyler Warren and into the arms of safety Rayuan Lane III. Lane returned the interception 92 yards for a touchdown with just 10 seconds remaining in the half, sending Jacksonville into the break with a commanding 28-0 lead.
The second half offered little respite for the visitors. Jacksonville continued to impose its will on the ground, with Chris Rodriguez Jr. bursting through the middle for a 28-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter.
Indianapolis eventually found something to celebrate late in the third period, as Jones connected with Josh Downs for a touchdown to prevent the shutout. It did little to change the outcome. Jones was subsequently replaced by Anthony Richardson, with the Colts’ starting quarterback finishing the afternoon with 144 passing yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.

Tuten continued to torment the Colts’ defense. He turned a screen pass into a 25-yard touchdown as the third quarter expired, completing Lawrence’s third touchdown pass of the game and extending Jacksonville’s lead to 42-7, which was the final score.
Jacksonville’s defense registered four sacks and forced three turnovers. Meanwhile, Lawrence enjoyed an efficient afternoon before being withdrawn early in the fourth quarter, completing 10 of 14 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception. Tuten was equally influential, finishing with 104 rushing yards and 55 receiving yards, alongside his two scores. The Jaguars finished with a season-best 183 rushing yards, while Taylor was restricted to just 23 yards on eight carries in potentially his last game as a Colt.
The Jaguars’ victory in front of 42,156 fans extends their home winning streak against Indianapolis to 12 games. The result moved Jacksonville to 5-2, opening up a three-game advantage over Houston in the AFC South, while the Colts fell to 2-6 after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat.
