It’s no secret that the New York Giants have a dynamic weapon on offense once again. It’s another LSU product, this time in Malik Nabers. The Giants had a disappointing 3-14 finish to last season, but Nabers was one of the few lone bright spots on a very flawed roster. Fast-forward to present day, there’s some buzz around Giants training camp that the team could surprise some people.
Nabers is now going to have Russell Wilson throwing him the ball, opposed to Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito and Tim Boyle from one year ago. The Giants also traded up to draft Jaxson Dart at No.25 overall in the first round, a move for the future. The Giants’ only different starter on offense is Wilson, so the team is banking on the quarterback position to completely change their fortunes around in 2025.
There’s something interesting going on with Nabers, however, as he’s missed the last few practices due to his toe injury. Nabers has made it publicly clear that the team has a plan for him to nurse the injury. He hasn’t practiced since August 6, including Tuesday’s joint practice with the New York Jets.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll didn’t disclose any more information regarding Nabers’ toe injury. His absence was noted at Tuesday’s practice, as the Giants’ offense struggled early on against the strong Jets defense. They’d end the day with three-straight touchdowns, two Russell Wilson passes and one Devin Singletary run.
The Giants have a few weeks to go until their season opener in Washington against the division rival Commanders. It’ll be interesting to see if Nabers’ injury is nothing, or if it’ll be a hindrance throughout the season.
