Dolphins Release Bradley Chubb

The Miami Dolphins are releasing two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Bradley Chubb, according to Jordan Schultz, officially sending the veteran defender to free agency.

Chubb had surfaced in trade rumors ahead of the deadline, but no deal ever came together. Ultimately, the move comes down to finances. His 2026 contract carried a cap hit of roughly $31.2 million, making him an obvious cap casualty as Miami reshapes its future. The release clears $7.34 million in cap space, though that number could jump to $20.23 million if the team designates him as a post June 1 cut.

The decision comes after a challenging stretch for Chubb. He missed the entire 2024 season after suffering a devastating knee injury in Week 17 of the 2023 campaign, tearing his ACL, meniscus, and patellar tendon. He spent 2024 on the PUP list and returned to practice late in the year, but never appeared in a game.

When healthy, however, Chubb has been productive. Across his two full seasons in Miami, he totaled 20 sacks, eight forced fumbles, and 117 tackles, consistently providing pressure off the edge. That production, combined with his pedigree, should give him a solid market despite turning 30 this summer.

As for potential landing spots, Baltimore stands out. His most recent defensive coordinator, Anthony Weaver, is now with the Ravens, creating a natural connection. Chubb has also played under Vic Fangio in both Miami and Denver, which could make Philadelphia another team to watch.

At 30 years old and coming off a major injury, Chubb carries some risk. But proven pass rushers rarely stay unemployed for long. If he can return to form, this could end up being one of the more intriguing veteran signings of the offseason.
