Dolphins Add Veteran Matt Judon to Bolster Pass Rush

The Miami Dolphins added to their defense on Monday, signing veteran pass rusher Matthew Judon to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.

Judon joins a Dolphins edge rusher room that includes Chop Robinson, Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips. This move was made to ensure they have depth at the position if one of their top guys go down, which happened last season. Chubb missed all of 2024 due to a torn ACL, meniscus and patellar tendon in his right knee. Phillips played in just four games last season after tearing his ACL as well.

Judon was traded to the Atlanta Falcons last offseason from the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick. It was a move expected to rejuvenate Atlanta’s pass rush, as they had one of the worst units in the league. It didn’t exactly pan out, as Judon had just 1.5 sacks in the first 10 weeks. He’d end 2024 with 5.5 sacks and 29 pressures.

The 33-year-old had 12.5 sacks in 2021 and 15.5 in 2022 with the Patriots, being named to the Pro Bowl in each of those years. Judon, a former fifth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2016, has put up consistent numbers since entering the league. As he enters his 10th season, Judon is currently at 72 career sacks, 174 quarterback hits and 94 tackles for a loss.

Miami’s pass rush just got even more scary.
