Steelers offense fires to outscore Colts
Pittsburgh remained perfect at home in 2026 with a victory over Indianapolis.
The Indianapolis Colts entered Acrisure Stadium on Sunday hoping to extend their winning streak and strengthen their position in the AFC playoff picture, while the Pittsburgh Steelers were searching for an immediate response after suffering a disappointing defeat to the Cleveland Browns in Week 4. Both teams began with identical 2-2 records, making the meeting an important opportunity to gain ground in a competitive conference. Indianapolis had shown encouraging signs during its recent victories, but Pittsburgh were determined to make home advantage count and rediscover their winning form.
The Colts opened the scoring through kicker Spencer Shrader, who converted a 57-yard field goal on their first possession. Pittsburgh had endured a difficult opening drive of its own, but the Steelers needed just one play to turn the game around. Aaron Rodgers found Jaylen Warren with a short pass, and the running back broke away from the defenes before racing 80 yards down the sideline for a massive touchdown. Chris Boswell added the extra point to put Pittsburgh ahead.
Shrader continued his outstanding form with another long-range effort, this time from 56 yards, bringing Indianapolis within a point. However, the Steelers began to find their rhythm offensively as the first quarter progressed, with Rodgers spreading the ball around and gradually moving the home side downfield.

Pittsburgh extended its lead in the second quarter after a sustained drive ended with Rodgers finding tight end Pat Freiermuth from a yard out. The touchdown put the Steelers up 14-6 and rewarded an increasingly confident offensive performance.
Indianapolis refused to let the game slip away. Quarterback Daniel Jones connected with Josh Downs for a substantial gain before finding Laquon Treadwell to move the Colts into scoring territory. Facing a crucial 4th down near the goalline, tight end Tyler Warren lined up in the backfield and powered his way into the end zone. Shrader converted the extra point, cutting the deficit back to 14-13.
The Steelers responded before halftime, with Boswell converting a 48-yard field goal to give Pittsburgh a 4-point advantage at the break. Despite Warren’s spectacular opening-quarter score, the contest remained finely balanced heading into the second half.
Shrader’s outstanding kicking performance got even better after the interval, converting from 22 yards to bring Indianapolis back within a single point. But Pittsburgh had another explosive play waiting. Warren burst through the middle of the Colts’ defense for a 50-yard rushing touchdown, completing his second major scoring contribution of the afternoon.
The Colts continued to move the ball, but their inability to finish drives remained the difference between the sides. Shrader added a 40-yard field goal late in the third quarter to make it 24-19, keeping Indianapolis within striking distance as the teams entered the final period.
Indianapolis had another opportunity to take control early in the fourth quarter after Jonathan Taylor broke off a 20-yard run to move the visitors inside Pittsburgh’s 10-yard line. However, the Steelers’ defense stood firm, forcing Jones into a hattrick of incomplete passes. Shrader converted from 28 yards.

The missed opportunity proved costly. Pittsburgh responded with a decisive drive, as Rodgers escaped pressure and connected with Germie Bernard for a 25-yard gain. Warren then helped move the chains before Rodgers found Freiermuth for amother touchdown, extending the lead and all but sealing victory.
The scoring ceased from there on out, as the Steelers claimed a 34-22 win at home over a Colts team who will only have themselves to blame for the missed opportunities in the red zone.
The result lifted the Steelers to 3-2, providing a welcome response to their previous defeat. Warren finished with 188 total yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Rodgers completed 22 of 31 passes for 235 yards and 3 scores. For Indianapolis, Shrader’s 5 successful field goals tied a franchise record, but the Colts’ inability to convert red zone opportunities into touchdowns ultimately proved decisive.
